ACT is a network of hyper-local community groups

Representing communities all over England

Our purpose is to champion and support grassroots decision making

We provide operational support to a membership network of community groups throughout England.

We are a led by a volunteer committee that runs projects aiming at providing opportunities for:

  • Training

  • Expert Tips - Time to ACT

  • Networking

  • Community Voice

We bring people and communities together – setting local priorities and impacting national change.

Due to our wide-ranging membership, we understand communities in coastal, rural and urban areas.

We will listen to our members and support their self-development when invited to do so.

We are experts by experience and use this experience to co-design resident-led solutions.

We're a vibrant network of over 170 community groups working to make a real difference in our neighbourhoods. Our goal? Stronger connections and a thriving sense of community for everyone, right across the UK.

We want you and your community to be part of this

How we ACT

  • Community Voice

    Community Voice

ACT offers you the opportunity to talk about your local community through our monthly networking sessions and on our social media; Facebook and X (formally Twitter). If you want to highlight the great work that your community has been doing you can send us an email, join our monthly networking or join our Facebook page and tell the world. We want to celebrate your work with you.

  • Community Funding

    Community Funding

ACT newsletter almost always has a funding opportunity and many of our members have bid for the funds that are highlighted there. Just recently the Chairman at ACT suggested we went for the funding bid highlighted in the newsletter, so there's something for everyone. If you want to receive a monthly news update simply add your details here

  • Workshops & Events

    Workshops & Events

ACT are working with Imperial College London to put on three workshops over February and March 2025, details, dates and venues are to be confirmed, but we can confirm that these will be centred around citizen science, and will look at sea water, air pollution and river water quality.

  • ACT Local Voice

    ACT Local Voice

One of our long term ambitions is to give communities a voice, so that when council or national government want to make changes that will impact local communities they will ask us first. At the moment this is an ambition, but we are already talking to people who work in national government so hopefully one day it will be a reality.
